Medina Health Center is pleased to announce support from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation as part of the Foundation’s recent investment in organizations working to address inequities and expand opportunity across New Jersey.
The Foundation’s initiative focuses on communities facing persistent barriers to economic mobility, health, and well-being, with Trenton among the cities receiving focused investment. Through this work, the Foundation seeks to support community-driven solutions that address factors contributing to the racial wealth gap and strengthen local communities.
Founded in 2014, Medina began as a specialty referral network helping uninsured and underinsured residents navigate a fragmented healthcare system. Over time, those experiences revealed a consistent challenge: many community members were delaying or forgoing healthcare because of cost, insurance barriers, transportation limitations, language barriers, or difficulty navigating the healthcare system.
In response, Medina expanded its model and opened a community-based primary care facility in Trenton, bringing affordable and accessible healthcare services closer to the people who need them most.
At Medina, we see firsthand how health and financial stability are interconnected. Individuals who lack access to affordable healthcare are more likely to delay treatment, experience worsening health conditions, miss work, and face significant medical expenses. Through initiatives such as Medina’s Access Fund, we work to reduce these barriers and help ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent patients from receiving timely care.
We are honored to be among the Trenton-based organizations receiving support through this initiative, alongside community partners including Isles, Trenton Health Team, HomeFront, The Father Center of New Jersey, and Salvation and Social Justice. Each organization contributes uniquely to strengthening the health, stability, and well-being of our community, and we look forward to continuing our collective efforts to improve quality of life for Trenton residents.
We are grateful to the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation for its partnership and commitment to investing in community-driven solutions. Together, we can help build a healthier, stronger, and more equitable future for the residents of Trenton and beyond.
