Dr. Qaisar Usmani
The CDC reported in 2015 that about 40% of adults in New Jersey reported limitations in work and 48% reported limitations in general activities, attributed to arthritis. The unfortunate statistic that often goes ignored is the limited access the uninsured population has to specialists who treat and manage arthritis – rheumatologists.
Words come short when patients are asked about rheumatologist Dr. Qaisar Usmani. However, the one common descriptive used by all his patients is – compassionate. It is rare to find a physician universally raved about, but Dr. Usmani is indeed the diamond in the rough.
Dr. Qaisar Usmani, a board certified internist and rheumatologist, has been in practice in the Hamilton, New Jersey area for over 15+ years. With his medical education from Rawalpindi Medical College, in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Usmani continued to specialize in internal medicine and rheumatology in the United States.
In his scope of practice, Usmani sees patients suffering from osteoarthritis and degenerative bone diseases, as well as autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma, and ankylosing spondylitis.
While establishing his private practice, Usmani took from his faith to constantly serve the community with the skills you have attained. Much prior to the existence of Medina Community Clinic, Usmani was keen on seeing patients who do not have health insurance or cannot afford medical care for a myriad of reasons. He opened the doors of his office for whoever needed his care, exemplifying immense compassion and empathy for the community around him.
At the conception of Medina Community Clinic, there was no second thought required before approaching Dr. Usmani to join the panel. “His compassion and energy for his patients is unlike I have ever seen before,” says Judith Hamilton, Medina Clinic’s patient care navigator. Hamilton has been working closely with Usmani since she joined Medina Clinic in November 2015 and is all praises for the doctor. “[Usmani] has one of the most outgoing and entertaining personalities, and he is equally as skilled and knowledgeable in his field. I have never had a single patient give me less than excellent feedback on him.”
When Dr. Usmani is not serving patients or his local faith community, he can be found engaged in health and fitness activities. Attaining a Masters in Nutrition from University of Bridgeport in Connecticut, his interest and passion for an overall healthy lifestyle is evident. His patients also recount his positive encouragement towards holistic lifestyle modifications for an improved quality of life.
Year after year, Usmani walks away with the highest volume of Medina Clinic patients served. In the year 2019, he alone completed 38% of the patient visits across all 17 of our active specialties. We are honored to have a talented, empathetic, and compassionate physician on our provider panel here at Medina Community Clinic. His service to Medina Clinic and to the patients of the Greater Trenton area will always be deeply respected.
